The nmap port scanner is a powerful tool that is Open Source (Free), and used by pretty much anyone wanting to port scan a network.
Highly accurate and extensible with the new nse scripting feature. If you have not heard of this one – you have not been doing IT Security for very long.
HackerTarget.com has a Free Online Nmap Scan; no installation required. Great for scanning an external IP address.
